All are welcome to Thornton Community Library’s first poetry event to be held Friday 24th June at South Square, 7pm. Award-winning and widely-published poets Rob Miles and Kath McKay will read their work. The event is pay as you feel please book free tickets on Eventbrite (see below)or register at the library. There will be the opportunity to buy drinks and snacks.
Kath McKay is from Liverpool, and she lives in Leeds. She is an award-winning poet and writer of fiction, which has been broadcast on Radio 4. Her poetry has appeared in anthologies and magazines such as The Rialto, Smiths Knoll, Magma, and The North. Kath has published three collections of poetry, Anyone Left Standing, Telling the Bees, and Collision Forces. She has lectured in creative writing at the universities of London, Leeds, Bradford, and Hull.
Rob Miles is from Devon, and he lives in Leeds. His poetry has appeared widely in magazines and anthologies, and he’s won various competitions including the Philip Larkin, Resurgence, and the Poets & Players prizes. Recent poems have appeared in Stand, Poetry News, One Hand Clapping, Spelt, New Welsh Review, 14 Magazine, The American Journal of Poetry, and Poetry Wales. Rob has lectured in film and Hispanic Studies at the universities of Portsmouth, Leeds, Hull, and Liverpool.
