This weekend, 4th and 5th July 2026, was the 7th Annual Open Gardens. Originally the brain child of Thornton in Bloom the event has taken on a life and identity of its own. Organised By the lovely Nicki and Jess, with monthly meetings usually involving a hefty wine consumption, over 20 Gardens opened up this year. The scores on the doors are not in yet but at least 200 people visited.
This year was the launch of the first “ Sounds of Thornton” a great add on to the weekend with CactusVille, The Richard Harris experience, Hedge Dolphin, Andrew Matheven, Anjaana, Das Funk and naturally our very own Thornton Community Choir. Matthew Choo even did a piano recital at the Community Centre.
We still have the display of Andy Seymours Posters, 7 years of them, up in the main hall if you want to call in and take a look.
