Thornton Community Centre is a volunteer-led hub offering classes, events, and library services at the heart of our village.

Our Story

Located on the historic outskirts of Bradford, birthplace of the Brontë sisters, South Square Centre, St James’ Church, and the iconic Thornton Viaduct; our village has a proud heritage and a vibrant spirit. In 2018, a group of committed local residents stepped in to secure the future of the community centre. By 2019, we achieved charity status, allowing us to develop new programmes, improve our facilities, and broaden our impact.

Today, the Community Centre hosts a wide range of activities: wellbeing classes, social groups, Sunday Cinema, community events, private celebrations, and more.

Thornton Community Centre Library

Based inside the Centre, our library has been run by volunteers since 2017, with books and resources provided by Bradford Council Library Services. It offers a welcoming space for readers of all ages and plays a key role in local learning, creativity, and community connection.
