Welcome to the Thornton Community Library, a friendly and welcoming space where villagers of all ages can explore, learn, and connect. Run by passionate volunteers since 2017, we bring together the heart of the community with the joy of reading, curiosity, and discovery
At Thornton Community Library, we’re more than just a place to borrow books — we’re a vibrant, welcoming space where curiosity grows, confidence builds, and imaginations take flight. Whether you’re popping in for a quiet moment with a book or joining one of our friendly community activities, there’s something here for everyone.
From picture books and early readers to young adult fiction, classics, crime, local history, and the latest novels, our shelves are always full of stories waiting to be discovered. We continually refresh our collection through Bradford Libraries and community donations.
We’re proud to offer engaging, child-friendly activities all year round. Our weekly Rhyme Time session for under-5s brings songs, stories, crafts and even bubbles to Wednesday mornings. We also take part in the annual Summer Reading Challenge, encouraging 4–12-year-olds to read, explore and get excited about books during the holidays.
Need to check emails, print a document, or get some online tasks done? Our public computers and free Wi-Fi are available to everyone.
We work closely with local schools, families, and groups to encourage reading for pleasure, learning beyond the classroom, and a sense of pride in our village’s community spaces.
Since 2017, the library has been proudly run by dedicated volunteers who are always happy to help you find what you need, recommend a book, or guide you through our services.
