Over the next few weeks, Thornton Community Centre will be taking part in Bradford Council’s Stronger Families scheme to support parents to access training, start job searching and find employment.
We realise there are lots of reasons that day to day life can make this difficult and offer support with things like health and wellbeing, reducing debt and budgeting as well as supporting the transition into work. Bradford Council work closely with other organisations that offer a range of services.
It’s a free voluntary programme and is available to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria.
How do I access this support?
To be eligible you must:
- have a dependent child
- have the right to work in the UK
- not be in paid work
What happens when I join the programme?
You will be allocated a friendly Key Worker who will work with you for about six months. Your Key Worker will meet with you regularly to understand your needs, strengths and job goals. You will have access to specialists who can work with you on:
- health and wellbeing
- debt issues, housing advice, budgeting and benefits advice
- preparation for work with CV and job-searching support, opportunities for work placements and building skills.
We also link in with a range of services that provide support for:
- children with Special Education Needs
- domestic abuse
It will be available this Saturday 10am – 2pm, in the foyer of the centre on Market Street, Thornton. Other dates over the summer holidays to be confirmed. (Sadly the sessions on Tuesday & Friday have had to be cancelled due to staff shortages)
