The Sunday Cinema Club at Thornton Community Centre brings people together each month to enjoy film in a relaxed, friendly, and welcoming environment.

Held on the first Sunday of every month, the club offers more than just a screening, it creates a shared experience where people can connect, unwind, and feel part of the local community.

We carefully select a varied programme of films throughout the year, including well-loved classics, modern favourites, independent productions, and inspiring true stories. This mix ensures there is always something new to discover, while also offering familiar films that audiences can enjoy together. Our aim is to make film accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background, or experience.

The Cinema Club plays an important role in supporting wellbeing and reducing social isolation. By providing a regular, low-cost activity in a safe and inclusive space, we give people the opportunity to build connections, enjoy shared moments, and take time out from everyday pressures. Many attendees come along on their own and quickly become part of a friendly and supportive group.

Our screenings take place in the Main Hall, where we create a comfortable setting for audiences to relax and enjoy the experience. Whether you are a regular cinema-goer or simply looking for something different to do on a Sunday, you will receive a warm welcome.

We update our film programme regularly, so there is always something to look forward to.

Our Sunday Cinema Club is organised and run by a dedicated group of local volunteers who give their time to make each screening possible. From selecting films to setting up the space and welcoming guests, their support helps create a friendly and inclusive experience for everyone who attends.
