Thornton Village Clean Up Day

For many years now, the first Saturday of the month is Thornton Village Clean Up Day. Organised by our friends at Sapgate Gardens Association a team of hardy volunteers meet up at the Community Centre from 10am, to tidy the village and make it more welcoming. Sapgate also have a ‘Pop-up Shop’ that sells jams, marmalades, chutneys and honey, cards and dishcloths, plus sometimes there’s a chance to buy plants with a plant swap as well. It’s also supported by the local Civil Service Sports and Leisure group. In July, the regulars were joined by Louise, the local Asda ‘Community Champion’ and Lewis.

If you would like to get involved, the Clean Up Day takes place on the first Saturday every month, meeting at the Community Centre from 10am – 12noon.
