Thornton Antiquarian Society
Join the Thornton Antiquarian Society for their regular weekly meetings at Thornton Community Centre. Held every Wednesday afternoon, these sessions offer a fascinating opportunity to explore local history, heritage, and stories from the past in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Doors open from 1:30pm, giving visitors time to arrive, settle in, and enjoy a chat with other attendees before the guest speaker begins at 2:00pm. Each week features a different talk, covering a wide range of topics linked to local history, heritage, and culture. Whether you have a long-standing interest in history or are simply curious to learn something new, the talks are engaging, informative, and accessible to all.
The meetings also provide a valuable social space where people can connect, share interests, and spend time together. Many attendees return each week, helping to build a strong sense of community and shared learning.
Admission is £3 per session, which includes tea and biscuits. You do not need to be a member of the Thornton Antiquarian Society to attend, and everyone is welcome to come along and take part.
